My First Blog

Okay... so we finally have the internet and the T.V. is all set up. Nick and I are watching a movie and Lilu is asleep on my butt. It's been 4 weeks since we left California and I have to say that I am getting a little home sick. Nick is doing fine at work, actually he loves it, but I am missing everyone back at home. I got my drivers license the other day, I left the "MVA" almost in tears when they took my California Drivers License away to shred. I'm not sure when I'll get used to it out here but I hope it's soon. Not that I want to forget California and everyone there but I want to start really enjoying our time out here. It's strange to think that it was easier for me to live overseas than is it to live here. We are having fun though, I'm cooking more and starting to really enjoy it. I was telling Nick the other day that cooking is so much more enjoyable when you're not tired. Let me tell you a little more about it out here.

The first week we were out here was exciting. We bought a new car and thank goodness it came with navigation because we wouldn't have been able to find our way around with out it. We also met our new neighbors, Suzie and Murphy, who are very nice and let us barrow a blow up mattress and table and chairs until our stuff arrived. So for the first week we drove around to get to know the area and we were even able to visit one of our friends from CSUSB who is now going to John Hopkins University in DC. We were excited to meet up with him and to find out that some more friends of ours were in the area as well. The second week Nick and I were getting a little nervous about our stuff that still hadn't arrived but finally it did at the end of that week. We had to help the movers with the baby grand do to the fact that only 2 out of 4 guys actually showed up, but moving a 400 lb piano, up 9 stairs, and in 95+ degree weather was so hard... yeah right. I think it took about an hour and a half to move it. "Where is Jaime when you need him" are the exact works that came out of Nick's mouth. Exactly 2 days later Nick started work and since then has come home with a smile on his face and another story to tell me. I love it. We found a church the very next week and also joined a small group for young married couples which we have been enjoying a lot. It isn't Sandals, I didn't expect it to be, but the church's main focus is to build authentic relationships with others and God which is something I prayed for specifically. That brings us to this past week when we went to DC to visit some friends and watch a football game. We saw the Washington monument, Jefferson monument and capital on the way which surprisingly I was more excited to see than Nick. And in between all of that there have been 2 major thunderstorms, a few walks around the neighborhood with Lilu, and many trips to Panera to use the Internet. I just can't wait to start working which should hopefully be this week sometime if everything works out.

So that is all that has happened for now and hopefully I can keep this blogging stuff up and hopefully it will be more interesting. Expect some new pictures and blogs soon. Until next time.
